Through Saturday, January 17. Evita.Trustus Theater brings to its stage Argentina's controversial First Lady in this dynamic musical master piece. Driven by ambition and blessed with charisma, Evita was a starlet at twenty-one, the president's mistress at twenty-four, First Lady at twenty-seven and dead at thirty-three. Told through a compelling score that fuses haunting chorales with exuberant Latin, pop and jazz influences, Evita creates an arresting theatrical portrait as compelling as the woman herself. Don't miss Send in the Clowns at 11 a.m. this Friday in the Children's Room at the Richland County Public Library (1431 Assembly St.) RCPL and the Colonial Center are teaming up on this special appearance of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus clowns for children ages 2-10. For more than 130 years, the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus has been performing throughout the nation to inspire the imaginations of children of all ages. Saturday, January 17. Red Nose Run.
It's about that time again...the Circus is coming and the Colonial Life Arena is helping everyone get ready for the most magical show on earth Come out this Saturday for the Red Nose Run. All registered participants will receive and Official Race T-shirt (pre-registered runners are guaranteed a t-shirt, others while supplies last), running discount coupons, discount tickets to Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® presents OVER THE TOP!, a Ringling Bros. Red Nose and other merchandise as well as food, drinks and fun! The races will take place at 8:00am (Palmetto Grand Prix 10k), 8:15am (5k) and 8:30am (Kids Fun Run). Saturday, January 17. 14th Annual Magic Gala Show. You don't want to miss this family-friendly feast of world class magic and illusion stars. The magic will be showcased at the Marriott Hotel, 1200 Hampton Street, downtown Columbia and is presented by the SC Association of Magicians. The magic starts at 8 pm and tickets are $10. Thursday, January 22. Reception with artist Claude Buckley. Join the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County at this special reception from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Artist Claude Buckley's collection features powerful works from his latest series In America: Reflections Into the Soul of Modern Society. Paintings from this series reflect Claude's reaction to the current economy, juxtaposing symbols from U.S. currency with allegorical social commentaries of life in America.
