Friday, January 23. Ray Huff on Charleston.As he turns 60, Charleston native and nationally acclaimed architect Ray Huff reflects on a lifetime of viewing the world through the architect's prism. The audience is invited to explore his experience, where it has taken him and where it may lead, as he asks himself ‘what does it all mean?' In addition to practicing architecture with partner Mario Gooden, with Huff + Gooden Architects, Huff is the founding director of the Clemson Architecture Center in Charleston, where he is Assistant Professor of Architecture. Saturday, January 24. Columbia Quad Squad. The bone-crushingly bodacious babes of the Columbia QuadSquad take the track at the Jamil Temple at 6:30 p.m. to battle the Savannah Derby Devils. In addition to the rough-and-tumble derby mayhem, QuadSquad rollergirl Assault N' Cattery is getting hitched - by fellow rollergirl Holly Hunter, no less - before the match. Saturday, January 24. World Beer Festival. All About Beer Magazine and Green's Discount Beverages present the 2009 World Beer Festival on Saturday, January 24, at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. A celebration of the world beer culture, The World Beer Festival provides attendees a broad sampling of hundreds of beers from over 100 breweries, food from a variety of local restaurants, educational sessions by industry experts, and entertainment by local musicians. The festival offers two four-hour sessions. Standard admission to a single session is $40, which includes beer samples, music by local bands, educational sessions by industry experts, and a festival tasting glass. Saturday, January 24. S.C. Foosball Players Association 2009 South Carolina Open. The SC Foosball Players Association 2009 SC Open Foosball Championships will feature five primary events for all skill levels to include both singles and doubles. Saturday, January 24. Hi-Cotton Bar-B-Que Fund Raiser. Hi-Cotton is a one of a kind Gospel group that combines Gospel favorites and original music in styles ranging from southern gospel, country and even a touch of blues. The group doesn't claim to be professional just a group of ordinary men that love Jesus and love to share His message with this world. Wednesday, January 28. DIVA Night at Mad Platter. Kick off your Valentine's love fest by spending the night with your girl friends. The last Wednesday of the month is DIVA Night from 5 to 9 PM - ladies only in the studio. Pizza, sinfully good brownies, the drink of your choice and plenty of pottery painting get the night rolling.
